Water prospecting for complex for the production of liquefied natural gas in the vicinity of the compressor station

The compressor station "Portovaya" - this is the ultimate point of the Russian section of the gas main pipeline "Nord Stream" and is the most powerful in the world.

Customer - "Gazprom designing», Moscow;

General contractor - OOO "PPP Artificial structures", Moscow;

Subcontractor - Geoliss (OOO "REL MGRT"), Miass.

Fieldwork period:   November 28 - December 23, 2015.

The site area was about 9 km2.

Main tasks:

  • The study of the geological structure and hydrogeological conditions;

  • Tracking zones of tectonic faults and fractures;

  • Selection and justification using geophysical methods of locations for water wells.

Basic methods of solution:

  • Radon survey with localization of fault zones;

  • Resonans-acoustic profiling;

  • Profiling by TEM for grading of the results.

The geological setting of the work area - about 10-25 m moraine deposits with frequent inclusions of boulders, deeper occurrence the granite massif.

Earlier here for 4 years of field work a wide range of standard geophysical methods: electromagnetics (EP, EP, BIEP, VES, KVEZ), magnetic, seismic (refraction, CMP) and NMR. The result was drilled more than 20 wells (depths of up to 150m), more than 10 of which were dry, low-yield and remaining only 21st hole fell into the crack (well depth of 70m). Finally, traditional approaches allowed geophysical object to provide water in a volume of 50 m3 / day (the desired flow rate - 100 m3 / day).

In mid-April 2016, we have got information from hydrogeologists: after 6-day pumping the pump in the well depth of 120m dynamic level stabilized at 22m with pump capacity of 4.3 m3/h. Of the flow rate with a margin enough to solve the problem.

The water capacity of the Quaternary deposits of about 25m (approximate flow rate - 10 m3 / hour) is completely cut off the casing.
