Electrical prospecting by TEM in the search for massive sulphide ores on Yalshankiy site, Verhneuralskiy district, the Helyabinsk region.

Surface geophysical works by means of transient electromagnetic method (TEM) will be performed on the most prospective sites determined by geologists and marked in accordance with the complex of geological, geochemical and geophysical characteristics.

The territory of survey area represents mountainous land. The range of mountains stretches meridionally. Local differences in evaluation are 150-200 meters.

Main tasks of the works:

  • to find  continuous copper-sulphide bodies not occurring on daylight surface;

  • to specify the location of faults of different order, to find zones of metasomatites with high concentration of sulphide mineralization.

Main preconditions for this are excessive electrical conductivity of sulphide ores and regressive magnetic susceptibility of the mostly metasomatically transformed bearing strata and ore control tectonic disturbances.

To obtain accurate interpretation of the received data, the test survey was carried out in 2005 on the famous deposit “Chebachie”. The results allowed to refer firmly the signatures to prospective ones for finding ore bodies.  

Totally, the project involved electrical prospecting by means of transient electromagnetic method to the extent of 1.7 km2 or 126 physical observations (including 16 offset points) and 25 VP of specification.
